Made in the USA Day 2023

July 2 Made in the USA Day

Why supporting U.S. companies and manufacturers is so important.

  • Made in the USA Day is a holiday celebrated on July 2 every year to recognize the importance of American-made products and the companies that produce them. The day was created in 2002 by Joel Joseph, the founder of the Made in the USA Foundation.

  • JW Aluminum - We are America's Metal - Made Right Here.
We're very proud to be an American manufacturer producing aluminum made in the USA. Enduring the pandemic highlighted the need to keep and build businesses here in the USA, and we're thrilled to see the investments in our country (probably because we were on the forefront of reinvesting in America). Here are some reasons why buying from U.S. companies and manufacturers matters:
  • Support American jobs. When you buy American-made products, you're helping to support American jobs. This is especially important in today's economy, when many manufacturing jobs have been outsourced overseas. Advocating for skilled trades is a great way to bolster our domestic manufacturing workforce.
  • Encourage fair labor practices. American companies are required to follow strict labor laws, including laws that protect workers from child labor and unsafe working conditions. When you buy American-made products, you can be more confident that the workers who made them were treated fairly.
  • Get higher quality products. Many people believe that American-made products are of higher quality than foreign-made products. This is because American companies have a long history of manufacturing high-quality goods, and they are subject to strict quality control standards.
  • Protect the environment. American companies are required to follow strict environmental regulations. This means that American-made products are often made with more sustainable materials and manufacturing processes. Take, for example, the aluminum sheet and foil we make for the building products, HVAC, and cargo and travel trailer markets - our flat rolled aluminum coils are made with high recycled content, and 95% of the aluminum produced is still in circulation today.
  • Feel good about your purchase. When you buy American-made products, you can feel good about knowing that you're supporting your country and its economy. You can also feel good about knowing that the products you're buying were made by people who were treated fairly and who worked in a safe environment.

Of course, there are some downsides to buying American-made products. They can be more expensive than foreign-made products, and they may not be available in all stores. However, the benefits of buying American-made products often outweigh the drawbacks.

Here are some additional benefits of buying domestic materials and products made in the USA:

  • Shorter supply chains. When products are made in the USA, they have shorter supply chains. This means that there is less chance of disruptions in the supply chain, which can lead to delays in getting the product to you.
  • Stronger warranty and customer service. American companies typically offer stronger warranties and customer service than foreign companies. This is because they want to make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase.
  • More innovation. Innovation is . This is because they have access to the best talent and resources in the world.

Here are some additional facts about Made in the USA Day:

  • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates the use of the phrase "Made in the USA" on labels. According to the FTC, "Made in USA" means that "all or virtually all" of the product was made in the United States.
  • The most popular American-made products include clothing, furniture, appliances, and electronics.
  • Made in the USA Day is not a federal holiday, but it is recognized by some states and cities.
  • In 2023, Made in the USA Day will fall on a Sunday.

If you are looking for a way to support American jobs, encourage fair labor practices, get higher quality products, protect the environment, and feel good about your purchase, then you should consider buying products made in the USA.

Made in the USA Day is a great opportunity to celebrate American manufacturing and the people who make it possible. By buying American-made products and supporting American businesses, you can help to keep jobs in the United States and strengthen our economy.
