Stronger Demand allows JW Aluminum to recall employees at Russellville, Arkansas plant
05-15-2009
(Mt. Holly, SC) May 15, 2009 — JW Aluminum announced a recall of approximately sixty-five (65) employees to bring its Russellville, Arkansas plant back up to pre-recession levels due to increased demand in key markets, including fin stock, semi-rigid container and light gauge foil.
Don Kassing, President and CEO, commented, “We, like many others in our industry, made hard decisions earlier this year to reduce our workforce in line with market demand. As demand has begun to return and JW has been successful in developing new accounts, we are now at a point where we need to bring a significant number of people back. This is good news for JW, our employees in Russellville, and the surrounding community.”
The plant will be close to maximum operating level this summer and JW Aluminum hopes to maintain staffing levels going forward. “We believe we have seen the bottom of the market, but we will continue to pay close attention to market conditions,” said Brien Doyle, Plant Manager.
JW Aluminum manufactures specialty flat-rolled aluminum products including “fin stock” used by the heating and cooling industry, light gauge converter foil for the flexible packaging industry, honeycomb foil for the aerospace industry, bare and painted sheet products for window coverings and the building and construction markets, and other foil and sheet products. JWA operates plants in Mt. Holly, South Carolina; St. Louis, Missouri; Russellville, Arkansas; Jackson, Tennessee and Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
