JW Aluminum Announces the Closure of its Plant in Williamsport, PA
JW Aluminum will be closing its plant located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania by January 29, 2021.
“The aerospace industry was immediately and severely impacted by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This abrupt contraction is negatively affecting participants throughout the supply chain,” said Stan Brant, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of JW Aluminum. “Historically, aerospace-related products have accounted for more than 50% of the total production at the Williamsport facility.”
The closure will affect 65 teammates in Williamsport. “We understand the impact this has on our teammates and their families. We will support all our teammates through this difficult time and are working to provide the best possible result under these unfortunate and unanticipated circumstances,” said Mr. Brant.
“Our focus now is to provide a safe and successful transition for our teammates in Williamsport as we continue operations at our facilities in South Carolina and Arkansas to supply American-made flat rolled aluminum for our core markets, the building products, commercial and recreational transportation and HVAC/R sectors.”
Concurrently, the company has been contacted by and is pursuing strategic buyers regarding a potential sale of the facility.
