JW ALUMINUM
RECEIVES AWARD FROM
THE CHARLESTON METRO CHAMBER
 On
Thursday, April 29, 2004, the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce presented
JW Aluminum with the award-winning Overall Sustainable Achievement Award.
JW Aluminum was granted the award in recognition of significant environmental
and community stewardship in the areas of Energy Efficiency, Procurement Practices,
Product Development, Quality of Workplace Life, Waste Emission Reduction,
and Water Conservation.
The Sustainable Charleston Award
Program seeks to recognize and promote businesses or organizations that successfully
balance community development, growth management and environmental stewardship.
The first program of its kind in the Southeast, Sustainable Charleston was
created to celebrate the many achievements of local organizations and individuals
who are implementing sustainable business practices in their everyday efforts.
Sustainable Charleston was made
possible by a unique partnership between the academic and business worlds.
Created by students from the Master of Environmental Studies Student Association
at the College of Charleston and the Charleston Metro Chamber's Developers
Council, the program reflects key elements of each organization's mission
— namely the adoption of responsible business practices that lead to
a higher quality of life for everyone in the Charleston area.
